Enjoy abundant nature, delicious food and hot springs!
Kagoshima City is located in the southernmost part of the Japanese Archipelago and in the south of Kyushu Island. Its population is about 0.6 million and the city has well-developed commercial and service industries. The city acts as an industrial and transport hub for southern Kyushu. The city also has many attractive tourist destinations. Enjoy nature at majestic Sakurajima and tranquil Kinko Bay, both with their own rich food culture and abundance of hot springs. There are direct flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul and Taipei, and many cruise ships make a port of call at Kagoshima Port. The city expects more exchanges of people, goods, and information in the future.
Sakurajima is an active volcano located just 4 km away from the city centre across Kinko bay and is a symbol of the city. Ferries take you from downtown Kagoshima to Sakurajima in just 15 minutes and they run 24 hours a day. It is impressive to see Sakurajima up close. If it erupts during your stay, you can say the volcano popped in to say hi!
Kagoshima is one of the top spa cities in Japan. You can enjoy various types of spring water and almost all spas cost just 390 yen. There are spa facilities from which you can enjoy majestic views of Sakurajima and Kinko Bay.
Kagoshima’s signature foods are standouts even in Japan. With its bounty of natural resources, Kagoshima produces high-quality crops and products. Many visit to enjoy the local cuisine like our kurobuta pork, our shochu, (a distilled spirit made from sweet potatoes), and our local ramen.
