On 31 July we provided an online presentation to 22 junior high school students and 4 of their teachers in Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, discussing various aspects of Australian culture, customs, and the relationship between Australia and Japan. They are planning to visit Cairns, which is a sister city of Oyama City, at the end of August as a delegation.
The students were curious about winter attire in Australia due to the opposite seasons compared to Japan. They also inquired about the types of breakfast they might have with their host families. Their enthusiasm and concerns about their upcoming visit to Cairns left a strong impression on us.
We also assisted in arranging an appointment for the delegation to visit the Consular Office of Japan in Cairns as one of our support services.
We are committed to continually supporting the activities of local governments in Japan that aim to strengthen sister city relationships with Australia.
