Farewell receptions were held across Australia for the new JET Programme participants over the second half of July. CLAIR Sydney was invited to receptions held in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, and Brisbane, and offered words of congratulations, encouragement and advice in regards to life in Japan to the new JETs. Our Director, Mr Akaiwa, made a speech at the beginning of some receptions. In his speech, he made note of the recent heavy rain damage to parts of Western Japan, and praised each JET community’s resilience against natural disasters. He also mentioned that he hoped they would have a wonderful time in Japan. A lot of guests were invited from JETAA, governments, universities and relevant organisations, and we all celebrated their new start together. We wish them great success in Japan!
