On Sunday, 1 December, the Matsuri Japan Festival, which celebrates Japanese culture and cross-cultural friendship between the Japanese and Australian people, took place in Sydney. The event was first held in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Japan and Australia’s friendship. Since then, until 2019, it has been an annual favourite of many people and was held for the first time in five years.
Many event attendees enjoyed the Japanese music performances on stage, various Japanese food stalls and Japanese cultural experiences of trying origami, calligraphy etc.
CLAIR Sydney promoted various regions of Japan by distributing tourism brochures and materials in collaboration with JETRO Singapore Ishikawa Prefecture Division, Nagano Representative Office in Singapore and Hyogo Business & Tourism Centre (HK).
As soon as the doors opened, a large number of people poured in to our booth and enjoyed collecting travel information about Japan throughout the event. Many of those who had visited Japan before told us their wonderful experiences in Japan and said that they could not wait for their next visit. This reminded us of how much Australians love Japan and is one of Australian’s most favourite holiday destinations.
We will continue to promote Japan in various places so that local fans will fall in love with Japan even more, and to welcome new fans of Japan.
