The delegation of 8 junior high school students, their teacher, and the city hall staff from Shiroishi City in Miyagi Prefecture visited CLAIR Sydney this month. Before their visit to our office, they had stayed with their host families and appeared to have encountered cultural differences between Australia and Japan.
We gave presentations based on the delegation’s specific requests, sharing our own experiences of working overseas. We discussed our thoughts when we were junior high school students and how our perspectives have evolved through our experiences abroad.
The students displayed aspirations to work overseas and asked questions such as “Can I continue practicing Japanese Calligraphy as a hobby abroad?” and “Is my English skill sufficient for effective communication with Australian people?”
We are committed to continually supporting the activities of local governments in Japan that aim at cultivating a global perspective among Japanese students.
