On Wednesday, 22 August, in Sydney, the MoU Signing Ceremony between the Ehime Cycling Life-Style Promotion Association and Bicycle NSW, along with the Ehime Prefecture Tourism Fair, took place.
At the signing ceremony, Tokihiro Nakamura, the Governor of Ehime Prefecture, and Peter McLean
, CEO of Bicycle NSW, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting exchanges between the areas centered around the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Kurushima Kaikyō Bridge.
During the Ehime Prefecture Tourism Fair, presentations on Ehime’s cuisine, cycling routes, and tourist attractions were given to local travel agencies and media. Additionally, the Ehime Sake Brewers Association hosted an event featuring explanations and tastings of sake produced in Ehime Prefecture.
The CLAIR Sydney office provided a briefing to Governor Tokihiro Nakamura and his six accompanying delegates, who visited Australia to participate in the event. The briefing covered an overview of Australia and insights gathered from local events in which our office participated, highlighting the positive responses regarding travel to Japan. A lively exchange of ideas took place, focusing on inbound tourism promotion.
During the discussions, the group introduced initiatives such as the “Cycling Shimanami,” a cycling event set against the stunning backdrop of the Setouchi Shimanami Kaido. It is anticipated that the promotional activities carried out during this visit will further enhance the appeal of Ehime Prefecture in Au
stralia.
The CLAIR Sydney will continue to support the overseas activities of Japanese local governments to capture inbound tourism demand.
From the 3rd to the 13th of December, eight selected swimmers from the Fukuoka Swimming Association visited NSW, where they participated in joint training sessions with a local school and competed in the 2024-25 Speedo NSW Senior State Age Championships.
