On November 20 and 21, we visited Gold Coast City Council, Brisbane City Council and the University of Queensland to conduct research on the Commonwealth Games which will be held next April in and around the Gold Coast. The Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. We heard about the current preparation status, ongoing efforts and forthcoming challenges including Legacy planning from relevant people in each organization. This was great information for Japanese local governments getting ready for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in 2019 and Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2020. We’ll continue to conduct this research for their benefit.
